La Halte du Pèlerin's Values

Sustainable & Organic Agriculture

Benoît and Marie-Paule have practiced organic farming for over 20 years. They use no-till farming methods to preserve soil health and biodiversity.
They also promote agroforestry by planting trees among their crops, encouraging a natural balance between plants, trees, and local wildlife.

Our grain crops also provide space for local beekeepers to place their hives seasonally.
Sharing and cooperation are central to our farm, as we jointly invest in agricultural machinery, including a combine harvester and seed drill, with two neighboring farmers.

Sustainable Dining

Our cuisine focuses on local ingredients, short supply chains, and seasonal produce. Most of our vegetables come from our own garden, while fruits and traditional Vendée cheeses are sourced from nearby producers.
Our meats are also carefully selected from local farmers, including veal sourced directly from a farm in Thorigny.

Renewable Energy & Waste Management

Committed to protecting the environment, Benoit and Marie-Paule have replaced oil heating with a geothermal heat pump, supported by solar panels for self-consumption.
They also reduce waste by offering reusable makeup remover pads and handmade sponges (tawashis). For cleaning, Marie-Paule favors natural products such as white vinegar, baking soda, and black soap.
